​The Little Story

​Laurence has a Belgian mother and an Italian father, and is 49 years old. She left Belgium in 2013 to come and live in Mauritius with her partner Didier and their 2 children, Milo and Lily.

​When they arrived in Mauritius, she realized that her wardrobe was totally unsuited to the hot, humid tropical climate.

After having put away her clothes made of synthetic materials and those impossible to wear in the Mauritian heat, her dressing room was almost empty 😂

​Her search for clothes that would allow her to
​"get dressed in 5 minutes and be feminine in all circumstances"
​but are fresh and pleasant at the same time is not very successful.

​She decides to make a few dresses for herself, having taken evening classes in dressmaking while living in Belgium. She goes in search of fabrics in Port Louis and sketches her first dresses so she could wear them.​

​Meanwhile, Laurence and Didier are getting married in Maurice and meet Carla, a dressmaker from Grand Gaube, who is in charge of making the gowns for their witnesses.

​Laurence and Carla immediately have a crush and realize how complementary they are: Laurence designs the models, chooses the fabrics and Carla puts the whole thing to music. They understand each other perfectly, and sometimes don't even need to speak. 🥰

​So when some of Laurence's friends ask her to design dresses for them, she doesn't hesitate for a moment, imagining new models and, one thing leading to another, an entire collection....

That's how the brand Le Dressing by Boubou was born.​

Why "by Boubou" ?​

​The designer's name is Laurence, but her husband has always called her Boubou. Over time, most of her friends called her Boubou too, and it became her pet name.

Boubou loves the way Mauritians mix French and English to express themselves; they manage to get so much across by mixing the two languages at the same time 😍

The "by Boubou" is simply a nice way of winking at them 😉​
